“Behold a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and they shall call His name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with Us” (Matt. 1:23).
As the angel Gabriel quoted from the prophet Isaiah, he was stating the inconceivable fact of the incarnation. God was coming to earth in human form. As the infant Jesus gave His birth cry from a lowly stable, God was speaking for the first time through human vocal chords.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
And He is still Immanuel to His followers. Jesus is still with us as He promised: “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Matt. 28:20).
