This beautiful name of Jesus was first spoken by Zacharias, as recorded in Luke 1:78. It reminds us that Jesus is the Living Water who satisfies our spiritual thirst forever (John 4:10-14).
The design includes several important symbols of Jesus such as the Branch and Root , the Living Bread and the Rod and Staff (Isaiah 11:1, John 6:51, Psalm 23).
The scroll is a symbol of the Word of God. The harp is a symbol of the use of music in worship, used throughout the history of the church.
The flowers and birds remind us of the Sermon on the Mount as recorded in Matthew 6:26-33. The dogwood is a symbol of the Crucifixion, and the butterfly is a symbol of the Resurrection.
The eagle in flight recalls Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
